Scavenger Hunts, Field Trips, and More

Our grade 7/8 class had another exciting week that included: formal debates, field trips, math scavenger hunts, grammar review and more! From THEIR to THERE and IT’s to ITS, students reviewed strategies to ensure they don’t mix up these commonly misused homonyms in their writing! In geography class, grade 8’s debated about factors that contribute to a city’s livability and dressed up as city councillors in our town hall debate! On Friday November 10th, students went on a field trip to the Ottawa war museum and the grade 7/8 class participated in an interactive workshop about WW1, students got to hold and interact with historical artifacts from over 100 years ago and then got to present about them to their peers! They loved acting and role playing! In Language Arts, students began their preparation for their upcoming literature circle discussion group activity for our novel “Black Like Me”! They are encouraged to wear plaid blazers with leather elbow pads for their actual discussion day! Just kidding. All in all, a great week at #theshore. Best of luck to the volleyball players this week!
