First trip of the new school year

First trip of the new school year

On Friday, September 8, 2017, Lakeshore students travelled to Kendrick’s Park, located in Lyndhurst, Ontario, to play some games, win points for house teams, get to know their classmates better, and have fun!

Immediately upon arriving, we grabbed a snack and played at the park. To get all students ready and warmed up, Ms. K had the students do the wave, play Bird on a Perch, and Horses, Knights and Cavaliers. Ms. K had way too much fun leading the Conga!! We all had a great time hanging out with the younger students. We also played a super intense game of Sword and the Stone.

Our school is divided into four house teams – Blue, Green, Yellow and Red. These teams compete against one another for the year to become the ultimate house champion! We got into our four houses, and the competition began. There were some exciting matches of balloon volleyball and partner soccer. These games resulted in Red House earning 25 points, Green earning 25 points, Blue earning 18 points, and Yellow earning 17 points. These competitions took place in the rain. These big competitions were just the beginning of a friendly, year long rivalry.

Despite some very chilly September weather, most of the students decided to brave the cold and have a swim. There were some very numb fingers and toes, and we even witnessed some blue lips. It was still a blast!!

It feels so good to be back at school, even though waking up is still something we all need to get used to. We can’t wait to see what the school year brings…
